D.A.P.S. was asked to investigate a personal residence in Milford, Delaware that was recently extensively remodeled. This original house was nearly 60 years old and had been in the same family for many years.
D.A.P.S. was called in by the current owners to investigate strange noises and activity they have experienced. We were given a tour of the home, and told about the activity they have experienced there. The owner claimed experiencing unseen entities moving in the bar area, apparitions moving about the master bedroom, photos falling off walls, and the banging of the master bedroom headboard. D.A.P.S. was also told of cell phones acting strangely. There were many relatively recent deaths associated with the family. We were given several different names to work with during the investigation, two men named George, Bob, Isabelle, and Edna.
With this information, the DAPS team set up our equipment and paired off into teams of two. DAPS investigated the home for several hours using all available equipment and techniques. At some points during the investigation, family members who were the victims of spirit activity were welcomed to join the team as they investigated. This is commonly known as presenting a trigger object. This would be a person or thing which seems to attract paranormal activity.
This is the first location that the team had available a new piece of equipment to use, a Spirit Box. This device is a basic Ovilus unit that will quickly scan FM radio frequencies allowing any spirits to utilize the white noise between stations to attempt to communicate. This device is not as easy to use as many would think. It seems difficult to pick out the complete words your listening for as responses to specific questions, but then a valid response is forthcoming, it is obvious. Investigators will hear many parts of words and notes of tunes, what they are looking for is a complete word or series of words across several frequencies indicating a legitimate spirit response. DAPS captured quite a few solid responses during the investigation using this device.
We will cover Video evidence first, if any, followed by Photo, and then EVP/Audio clips. One note regarding Orbs. Many paranormal professionals dismiss Orbs outright. Far too many groups try to present paranormal Orb "evidence" that allegedly show Orbs when in fact they are bugs or more likely dust. DAPS does not completely dismiss Orbs as a legitimate paranormal event, however, DAPS is very cautious about presenting what we believe may be legitimate Orbs unless there is compelling evidence as to the Orb being a legitimate paranormal event.
Our findings are as follows.
First we will present the only Video evidence we were able to capture. This is a video captured with the Canon hand held camera while the investigators attempted to determine who’s spirit may be there using the K2 Meter. This was captured in the master bedroom. The investigator asks about a George and gets no response, then asks about a Bob and gets a valid hit.
In the following Photo, DAPS has captured what we believe is a legitimate Orb. Our reason for believing so is the fact that it was captured very close to a location where activity was reported, and it has the characteristics of a true Orb in that it appears self illuminating. There is a piece of dust just below and to the left of it for comparison.
Besides the video and digital photo evidence, the DAPS teams were able to perform a lot of EVP and audio Spirit Box sessions trying to make contact. On review of the evidence, we did not capture any voices or strange noises on the digital recorders, but we were able to capture a few excellent audio clips of clear Spirit Box responses.
Note: For the best listening experience of Spirit Box clips, use headphones and adjust the volume to medium/low on your PC.
One of the first Spirit Box Audio Clips to be captured was with the hand held recorder that is carried by the investigators as they go from location to location. This session was conducted by a team in the third floor bedroom where an apparition was reported to have gone to. David and Jenn are attempting to find out which person the spirit may belong to, and asks if their name was George. They get a clear 'hey' as an answer as if to say hello to the person asking the question.

Our second Spirit Box Audio clip was caught by Kim and Brian. Kim and Brian were investigating in the third floor bedroom. This was also captured using the hand held recorder that the investigators carry around with them. Kim is attempting to find out if George was one of the spirits who's name we were given, and asks if their name was George L., or George R. She gets a clear 'yes' as an answer.

Our third Spirit Box Audio clip was also caught by Kim and Brian, and was captured on the hand held recorder the investigators carry around with them. They were conducting a Spirit Box session in the third floor bedroom. Kim is looking for back up evidence to the previous 'yes' answer to the spirit being George R. She gets a very clear 'that's me' as a response confirming that the spirit there is in fact George R.
DAPS was told of both a dark apparition, and a white mist appearing in the master bedroom. DAPS investigators did not capture any evidence of the dark apparition. The white mist however, may be explained by the master bedroom being on a lower level with windows that are near ground level. The home is located on a road that gets some traffic, and there is a side street across the street for another housing development. DAPS teams drove their vehicle up and down the road with high and low beams on while other team members stayed in the master bedroom and bathroom to observe.
It was determined that if someone was going about their business in the master bath, after a shower particularly, that the lights from these vehicles do project into the room, and that this could be mistaken for a white mist moving in the room. This would be pronounced if steam from the shower, or smoke from a cigarette was in the air giving the light a mist or cloud like appearance.
DAPS was slso told of a photo of a clown falling off of where it was set. It was set on the top edge of a framed picture in the bar area.
We believe that this was likely not a paranormal event because in the bar area there are speakers, and other sound equipment and electronics. This photo was directly under a speaker hanging on the wall, and it would be easy, over time, for the vibrations from the sounds coming from the speaker to eventually make it slip off the edge of the frame and fall.
DAPS was also told of a concern of unexpected activity with a cell phone that would activate and illuminate its screen for no apparent reason. The owner has taken the phone back to the vendor who claimed to not know of any reasons the phone should suddenly become active if an incoming call or message was not occurring.
We did find that with Android OS cell phones that there are many complaints of screens activating for no reason. This has been mostly blamed on an Android OS Software issue that activates the main screen when the phone is attempting to randomly check for an internet connection. It is not a device wide issue, but a random issue in which devices are affected. The common denominator is the Android OS. This may be an explanation for this phenomena happening.
Evidence Not Found
DAPS had 24 hours of Video footage that was set to record in the bar, master bedroom, and main hallway in an attempt to capture any object movement, shadow people, or apparitions. On review of the footage, none were detected, and during the night, no evidence of the apparition or shadow person was found. We also did not capture any objects moving.
DAPS also had nearly 30 hours of audio that was recorded in the above locations as well as with a recorder carried by the investigating team. Nothing that was paranormal or out of the ordinary was captured on the recorders stationed near the IR Cameras, or on the hand held during EVP sessions.
DAPS also captured approximately 175 digital photos for this investigation, only finding one showing possible activity.
The lack of captured evidence of certain types does not imply that the experiences explained to us are not valid. It simply means that the spirits, if present, did not choose to interact with us and our equipment during the investigation, or did not have the ability to do so.
In conclusion, after reviewing all of the footage captured, and in consideration of the paranormal evidence that was found at the location, DAPS believes that there may be valid paranormal activity happening at the residence. We believe that there is possibly the spirit of Bob lingering in the bar area and possibly the master bedroom. We also believe that there is solid evidence to prove that the spirit of George R. is lingering in the home as well, and seems to favor the third floor bedroom. We also believe that there may be Poltergeist activity causing the headboard to bang during the night. This activity would be classified as intelligent in nature as opposed to residual.
