Delaware Area Paranormal Society - Ghost Hunters

Glasgow House

D.A.P.S. was asked to investigate a personal residence in New Castle County, Delaware that was built in 1979. This house is your typical Cap Cod style with about 2050 square feet of living space.

The current residents asked us to strange lights, mists, and other activity they have experienced. We were given a tour of the home, and told about the activity they have experienced there. The head of household, and family members, claimed experiencing objects being moved, and the family pet acting strangely.

The house was built within a very large area of land between Iron Hill, and Glasgow Delaware where, are located, the battle fields for the Battle of Cooch's Bridge which took place in 1777 during the American Revolution. Evidence of that battle can still be found in the development and surrounding area.

With this information, the D.A.P.S. team set up our equipment and paired off into teams of two. D.A.P.S. investigated the home for several hours, using all available equipment and techniques. At some points during the investigation, family members who were the victims of spirit activity were welcomed to join the team as they investigated. This is commonly known as presenting a trigger object. This would be a person or thing which seems to attract paranormal activity.

One of the important things for a paranormal group is to capture solid evidence of paranormal activity. Further, its more important to capture evidence that does not fit in with the surroundings making it stand out more as being paranormal, and capture evidence that backs up what the resident claims is happening at the location. It's also important to find non-paranormal explanations for some of the experiences reported.

We will cover video evidence first, followed by photo evidence, and then EVP Clips if any of the above are found. One note regarding ORBS. Many paranormal professionals dismiss ORBS outright. Far too many groups try to present paranormal ORB "evidence" that allegedly shows ORBS, when they are bugs or more likely dust. D.A.P.S. does not completely dismiss ORBS as a legitimate paranormal event, however, D.A.P.S. is very cautious about presenting what we believe may be legitimate ORBS, unless there is compelling evidence as to the ORB being a legitimate paranormal event.

 Photographic Evidence

D.A.P.S. team members took 261 digital photos during the investigation hoping to capture evidence. Unfortunately none was found in those photos. We have pulled three still shots from the video footage that was recorded in the bedroom where activity was reported. The resident had claimed that they saw lights, or mists, on or near the window. It was later discovered that D.A.P.S. investigators could reproduce the anomaly with their camera. When the resident was using their cell phone to take the video they showed us containing the lights or mists, we at first thought that the TV was making a reflection, which it may have done. We also discovered that while taking video with the cell phone, an illuminator light on the phone comes on. While using the Canon digital camera, we discovered that the pre-flash light made the same or similar light anomaly on the blinds. D.A.P.S. believes that the light or mist like anomaly seen in the video is simply the TV or cell phone illuminator. The photos below show the blinds in normal light, then one with our Canon camera light showing a similar light as seen in the video, and a third photo of the neighbors car headlights illuminating the window from the outside where there is a shrub planted.

EVP Evidence

Besides any video and digital photo evidence captured, the D.A.P.S. teams were able to perform a lot of EVP sessions trying to make contact. During these sessions we use a variety of different equipment from just the digital recorder, to the SB-7 Spirit Box, and the Ovilus. There is a lot of skepticism of the SB-7 Spirit Box and the Ovilus, and at first D.A.P.S. was unsure how effective they would be as accurate investigative tools. What convinced us that there was the fact that at each location where we have used these devices, the data they produced ended up being extremely relevant. This investigation, and the evidence we present below is another example of that reality. We were able to capture a number of SB-7 Spirit Box and Ovilus hits during these sessions. It is possible that some of the SB-7 Spirit Box session responses are true EVP's as the same recorder is used to pick up both which are indistinguishable from one another.

NOTE: For the best listening experience, use headphones and adjust the volume on your PC or Laptop accordingly.

During the different sessions throughout the night, teams were getting responses to questions or reactions to their actions, as well as words from the Ovilus which was on Q&A mode. We received during the night the following words from the Ovilus. Country, Disaster, Entire, Mommy, Placebo, Should and Tree. At the time, not many of these words made sense. We knew that the land the development was built on was part of the Battle of Cooch's Bridge battleground. We understood that Country, Entire, Placebo, Should and maybe Disaster were associated with the battle. We will explain each below.

One of the first words we captured was Country. The Battle of Cooch's Bridge was a battle during the American Revolution where our soldiers were fighting for our "Country" and it's independence from the British. (They lost this battle.) Below is the clip of this Ovilus event.

The second word we captured was Disaster. We at first thought this was associated the battle that ended up in Disaster as we lost that battle. We will come back to this word again later. Blow is the clip of this Ovilus EVP.

Next, we caught the word Entire. We had caught this word in another investigation. That location was very very old, having been built before the Cooch's Bridge battle was fought. The word Entire back in Colonial days meant horse. We think this fits in perfectly with the battlegrounds. That clip is below.

Next we captured the word Placebo. At first we were not sure how this fit into the battle scenario. We then discovered that supplies on the American Side were extremely low, and was the main reason we lost the battle. Medical supplies were also scarce. Many of the wounded were given sugar, also known as a Placebo, which is a fake drug used to soothe mainly by making the victim think they were getting real medicine. That clip is below.

The last word we associated with the battle was Should. We think that if spirits are here from that battle, they would be thinking we Should have won, we Should have had enough supplies. That clip is below.

The words above could clearly be associated with the battle that took place on these lands. But we still had words that made no sense at the time. We still had Mommy and Tree. Although trees are all over the battlefield area today, they were not there during the battle. After the word Disaster was captured, D.A.P.S. team members were discussing the word at command central. The resident then told us that they had not told us about a very tragic event that had taken place in the life of a very dear friend who was staying with them in the house. Her friends little girl had drowned in a swimming pool. This revelation made everything else fall into place, including the evidence captured that was presented by the SB-7 Spirit Box. First we will review the other words we captured with the Ovilus, Mommy and Tree. We will also present the word Disaster here again to provide relevance.
We had originally assigned the word Disaster to the disastrous Battle at Cooch's Bridge which the American's lost. Now we know that a little girl had drowned years ago at another location, but her mother was staying here. It may be possible that the word Disaster is in reference to that event. Below is the Disaster clip again.

The next word was captured sometime after we learned about the little girl who had drowned. The word Mommy was captured after an investigator asked about her mommy. That clip is below.

This is the last word for the Ovilus, it is the word Tree. This word, at first, we were confused on, and thought maybe it may have applied to the battlefield. That was until we talked further with the resident who told us that the little girl who drowned loved trees. That clip is below.

In an early session using the SB-7 Spirit Box, Kim and David were in the back bedroom attempting to get answers. This was long before these investigators knew about the death of little girl. Keep in mind that what the recorder is picking up may be an actual EVP as opposed to a response via the SB-7 Spirit Box. Kim and David were asking questions about the little dog who has seemingly been affected by something in the house. During a pause, they get a clear "Hello" in a little girls voice. That clip is below.

Amazingly, the above clip was not the only clip Kim and David capture of a little girl. Kim asks why they were there, why were they coming into this room. This must have confused the spirit of the little girl because the delayed response was "Huh?". That clip is below.

Kim next asks if she is a female, we get another little girls response, "No". We think she did not understand she is a female because she is so young. But it was a direct response to the question asked. That clip is below.

Next Kim asks the spirit to tell us their name. She gets another little girls response, a fairly adamant "No". That clip is below.

After a short period of time with no further words or responses, Kim and David decided to leave the bedroom and try investigating in another room. You can hear them getting up to leave then the word "Leave" in a little girls voice comes across. That clip is below.

Kim and David were also getting other responses during the same SB-7 Spirit Box session. We captured the word "Don't" which we have not been able to apply to anything we were asking or talking about. That clip is below.

David asked is the spirit was a soldier. He received a male voice "No" in response. That clip is below.

At some point during the session we also got a name. "Joe" So far we have not been able to associate it with anyone in the house or anyone associated with the house. It is possible that it could be that of someone from Colonial times when the Battle at Cooch's Bridge was being fought, but they were not a soldier. That clip is below.

Our last EVP's are ones that lead us to believe that there are two spirits in the house. Earlier, we presented a clip of the little girls voice saying "Leave". Just after that, we get another different voice  saying "Leave". That clip is below.

Explanation Of Events

The residents were quite excited about possible ORB activity. We found that, as with most inhabited structures, there is always a lot of dust in the air. Some of these, on rare occasion, were a bit bright, but did not exhibit the characteristics of legitimate ORBS. D.A.P.S. was also shown a video file of what appeared to be a floating object in the back bedroom and some strange illuminations. D.A.P.S. was able to replicate the strange illuminations, and explain the activity captured as camera illumination, or TV reflection.

The residents also showed D.A.P.S. a video of their dog acting out as if it were following something or seeing something. We did on several occasions capture insects flying about, and one explanation could be that the dog, with more sensitive senses than a human, was following an insect. However, in light of the number of SB-7 Spirit Box responses in a little girls voice, and the fact that the little girls mother was living there, we have to consider that the dog is reacting to the child's spirit who is attracted to the dog

Personal Experiences

D.A.P.S. teams had only one personal experiences. Personal experiences are paranormal events that take place that affected the investigators during their investigation, but were not captured by the equipment.

Brian was investigating in the living room when he felt a coldness come over him just before the Ovilus gave the word Disaster.

Evidence Not Found

D.A.P.S. had 10 hours of video footage that was set to record in the back bedroom, and kitchen in an attempt to capture any object movement, shadow people, or apparitions. On review of the footage, none were detected, and during the night no evidence of an apparition or shadow person was found. We also did not capture any object movement.

D.A.P.S. also had 10 hours of audio footage that was recorded in the above locations as well as a recorder carried by the investigating team. As listed above , we captured a lot of SB-7 Spirit Box and Ovilus responses and words, but nothing else that was paranormal or out of the ordinary such as footsteps, bangs, or other anomaly's.

D.A.P.S. also reviewed 261 digital photographs for this investigation, finding none showing possible activity.

The lack of captured evidence with some equipment, or of specific activity reported to us, however, does not imply that the experiences explained to us are not valid. It simply means that the spirits, if present, did not choose to interact with us and our equipment  during the investigation, or that the experiences were being misunderstood.

Conclusion

In conclusion, after reviewing all of the video, photographic, and audio captured, and in consideration of the amount of paranormal evidence that was found at the location, D.A.P.S. believes that there is a good possibility that the spirit of the little girl is there at the residence. It is also possible that a second entity that we cannot identify may also be there. Seemingly intelligent responses captured indicates to us that the haunting is intelligent in nature. The absence of any high level physical interactions indicates to us that the haunting events reported are not demonic or evil in nature. Nothing in the evidence supports that, or any of the commonly accepted scenario's.
